Functional Safety Free Introductory Lesson (Dec 11, 2020 – 10:00-11:00 CET)

This is the Introductory of the training and the first lesson: it sets the domain definition. The participants will get familiar with basic Safety Functional concepts and vocabulary. A general overview is given on IEC 61508 basics.

Session 1: Functional Safety fundamentals (Dec 15, 2020 – 8:30-13:00 CET)

A general overview is given on IEC 61508 basics: random vs systematic failures, SIL definitions, and safety analysis methods. Some derived norms such as Automotive (ISO 26262), Industrial (IEC 61511), Railways (EN 50126) and Machinery (EN ISO 13849) are surveyed.

Session 2: Implementation with example: system design and hardware (Dec 16, 2020 – 8:30-13:00 CET)

Analysis of an example implementation: Safety Plan and system features, HAZOP and Safety Functions, Hardware Safety /FMEA, FTA and Sil Verification.

Session 3: Implementation with example: software and system validation (Dec 17, 2020 – 8:30-13:00 CET)

Analysis of an example implementation: Software Design (requirements, Integrity, development tools, Life cycle planning, validation), and Final System validation.
